How do I calculate the size of pond liner out I need?
Simply enter your intended ponds longest length, along with the widest width and the maximum depth x 2, always try and have at least 18 inches deep at some point, or 24 inches if located in a colder state so fish have some clear water to escape to in winter.
Aways allow a extra foot for overlap.
Example: To create a 10 foot by 8 foot fishpond that is 18 inches deep.
Pond Liner Length = max length + (2 x max depth) + 1 for overlap = 14 Foot
Pond Liner Width = max width + (2 x max depth) + 1 for overlap = 12 Foot
So to creat a 8 foot by 10 foot fish pond you need to purchase a minimum 14′ x 12′ pond liner.
Shelves and corners may use more liner than calculated so is always best to buy slightly more pond liner than required, pondliner can always be cut to size or you can make the pond larger to use up the liner. It is always better to go as big as physical possible as this allows pondwater to warm and cool at a slower rate, also for water chemistry reasons.
